Photo in the Dark

Taking photos with vintage cameras is always a bit of a risk and the resulting pictures can be quite a surprise.

I took this picture on the way home from work while passing through Chinatown with a seventy year old Kodak Jiffy camera. The camera is about as simple as can be with a rudimentary focus ring and a small metal arm that pulls the shutter. In the T setting, you pull the shutter twice, first time to open, second time to close.

This leads to a lot of shaky long time exposures, and that together with the very simple lens means that about two thirds of all the photos look soft and a bit hazy.

But then there are shots like this one. I just love it.

Shot with a Jiffy Kodak Six-20 on re-rolled Fujicolor Superia 100 medium format film.
